PCS Subscribers Mobility Modeling Using Fractional Brownian Motion (FBM)

The growth of PCS systems demands better resource management algorithms. Reduction of the cell size has been a common point that many solutions propose. As a result of cell reduction, the importance of finer mobility descriptions increases, such that it is necessary to look for improved analytical tools to model mobility. In this paper, a mobility model based on Fractional Brownian Motion (FBM) is presented. The proposed model represents a wide variety of mobility scenarios, removing the unrealistic constraints of previous models. The suitability and flexibility of the proposed methodology is discussed through the analysis of different scenarios.
