Census: Continuous posture sensing chair for office workers

Sitting on a chair with incorrect posture, or the same posture for a long time, causes the burden on the waist and shoulders of workers, leading to mental stress and poor work efficiency. It is therefore important to measure workers' sitting posture and advice on how to improve the posture or notify them to either adjust their posture or take a break from sitting. To achieve this, it is necessary to continuously measure how a worker is sitting without affecting the worker's ability to complete their tasks. We developed a sensing chair called “Census” satisfying these requirements. This sensing chair has a function that is able to classify the sitting posture of workers with an accuracy of 80.1%.
