Benefit assessment and quantification of electronic screening at truck weigh stations
暂无分享,去创建一个
An increasing number of truck weigh stations are operating with an electronic screening system utilizing the Weigh-In-Motion technology. Electronic screening diverts only i°apparenti± overweight trucks into the weigh station for precision scaling. For the carriers participating in the screening program, electronic screening can save significant travel times by bypassing the time-consuming scaling and inspection process at the weigh station. For the enforcement authority, electronic screening can improve the enforcement efficiency by reducing the congestion level in the inspection area. This study assesses and quantifies such electronic screening associated benefits. A simulation model is developed for the study and selective model parameters are calibrated for ensuring the modeling accuracy. For case study, three weigh stations, incorporating the electronic screening system, are selected and analyzed using the simulation model.
