The optical microscope, electron microscope and histochemistry were used as basic techniques to study microscopic structure and submicroscopic structure of digestive tubes in 10 adult myocastor coypus. The results were as follows: 1. Many esophageal peithelial cells showed keratinized. The numbers of parietal cells were equal to or slightly more than those of chief cells in fundus glands. There were many Paneth′s cells in the intestinal gland bottoms of small intestine. The positive reactions of Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) appeared in epithelial cells of stomach tunica mucosa, mucous neck cells of fundus glands, mucous cells of glandulae duodenales, Paneth′s cells and goblet cells of intestinal glands in small intestine. There were argyrophil endocrine cells in fundus glands and intestinal glands. Under scanning electron microscope(SEM), there were many gastric pits in the surface of stomach tunica mucosa, and many microvilli in the surface of small intestine. Under transmission electron microscope(TEM), there were lots of mitochondra, smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) and intracellular canaliculi in the parietal cells of fundus glands. The microvilli of tunica mucosa of small intestine were arranged densely. There were junctional complexes between the epithelial cells of small intestinal tunica mucosa. There were the scattered endocrine cells in fundus glands and intestinal glands.
