A stochastic Petri net-approach to modeling and analysis of ad hoc network

We present a stochastic Petri net-based approach to modeling and analysis of ad hoc wireless networks. We illustrate how our model can exploit the characteristics of the system to construct a scalable model. The proposed scheme is a powerful analytical model that can be used to derive network performance much easier than a simulation-based approach. Yet it offers very close numerical results as compared with the latter. Therefore, it has great potential in assisting engineers in the design and implementation of ad hoc networks.
