Modeling arbitrary functions of two variables

This section has utility, not erudition, as its guiding principle in attempting to serve the digital simulation community. There are now a number of good digital simulation programs which count their users in the hundreds; and several, in the thousands. One way this section can serve is to act as a bulletin board by which these users can quickly share the special &dquo;goodies&dquo; they have developed, the special methods they have worked out for particular modeling situations. Surely these program packages are not all so perfect that there is never occasion for tailoring. The following article describes a subroutine for modeling functions of two variables-this should be of particular interest to users of S/360 CSMP. Comparable special functions have undoubtedly been programmed for some of the other CSSL’s. This section invites short contributions of this sort which will have immediately utility for a significant number of our members.
