A low profile wide-angle scan phased array antenna with tile architecture

A low profile wide-angle scan phased array antenna is designed in this paper. With the tile architecture, profile of the phased array antenna is reduced dramatically; in addition, the main beam of antenna array can steer to the desired direction by combining the invasive weed optimization method with the active element radiation pattern of inter-element, which includes the effects of mutual coupling. An engineering application prototype is fabricated and measured, the measured results agree well with the simulated counterpart.
