Reconstruction of full polarimetric SAR data from compact polarimetric measurements based on bayesian regularization

Compact polarimetry (CP), as a dual-pol (polarized) system, can reduce the system complexity and data volume in comparison with full polarimetry (FP). Reconstruction of FP data from CP data have been discussed most likely based on iterative algorithm which made use of the parameterized model with the symmetric assumption of co-pol and cross-pol correlation and applied to specific terrain surfaces. In this paper, we present the Bayesian regularization to reconstruct FP data from CP data particularly without symmetry assumption. This reconstruction can be directly implemented for SAR CP-imaging on most of terrain surfaces, and makes CP applicability to FP analysis.
