Full FPGA-Based Implementation of an Energy Efficient ONU with Cooperative Cyclic Sleep

A full FPGA-based implementation of an energy efficient ONU featuring cooperative cyclic sleep is presented. Evaluations show that the ONU successfully switches between states and maximal energy saving is achieved without violating delay requirements.
