Dietary non‐extractable condensed tannins as indigestible compounds: Effects on faecal weight, and protein and fat excretion

The work was undertaken to study the possible degradation of non extractable condensed tannins (NECT) in the intestinal tract, as well as their influence on the weight and composition of faeces. The study was carried out using the rat model, which has been found to correlate with human studies in terms of dietary fibre fermentation. A carob pod concentrate was useed as a source of NECT
