Analysis of the Functional Translation Theory in the Landscape Application of Translation——with Shaoxing Famous Scenic Spots As an Example

This paper discusses the application of functional translation theory to the translation of some scenic spots and historical sites.Functional translation theory advocates that translation is a purposeful activity,emphasizing on adopting different translation strategies according to different texts.Taking some famous scenic spots in Shaoxing,the author adopts various translation methods,such as annotation,analogy,omission,adaptation,to make necessary adjustment and treatment of the target language.The purpose is not only to enable the target readers to understand the connotation of the source language,but to carry forward the traditional culture of our Chinese nation.
