Broadband Internet in the United States

In this paper, we use data envelopment analysis to assess the efficiency of broadband Internet adoption and use in the United States. The analyses are carried out at the state level from 2005 through 2007. suggest that broadband adoption and u se of broadband is not efficient across the United States. While some states were efficient in all time periods, the efficiency of others increased and other decreased over time. States nee d to identify their shortcomings and use the right mix of inputs (and outputs) to improve their efficiencies.
