The psychology of the oldest-old: the fourth age

Most of our knowledge about ageing, including psychological ageing, stems from the young-old, those aged between 60 and 70 years. Is this knowledge applicable to the oldest-old, or do we have to differentiate between the 'Third' and the 'Fourth Age'? Curr Opin Psychiatry 11:411-415.
