Optimization and quality improvement of biodiesel produced from waste cooking oils.

Experimental research was carried on alkali-catalyzed biodiesel fuel production from waste cooking oils. The influence of water content, molar ratio of methanol to oil, concentration of alkaline catalyst, reaction temperature and time different reaction factors to transesterification, and methods such as water washing, acid washing, extraction and pressure reduced etc.as to biodiesel quality are also studied.Under the following conditions: molar ratio of methanol to oil 9∶1,catalyst concentrate 1.3wt%,reaction temperature 50 ℃ and time 90 min, through using atmospheric and pressure reduced distillation, good quality biodiesel can be achieved.
