A NEW RING TRANSFORMATION OF ISOXAZOLO[3,4-d]PYRIMIDINES INTO PYRIMIDO[4,5-d]PYRIMIDINES

The treatment of isoxazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidines with benzylamines and 4-picolylamine caused ring expansion to the respective pyrimido-[4,5-d]pyrimidines by intramolecular cycloaddition of 1,5-diazahexatriene intermediates. Reaction mechanism of this ring transformation will be discussed.
