A BootRom program of a security chip is used by the method described by the invention to verify the validity of a Bootloader program, and after being verified valid, the Bootloader program reads a partition table in order to determine an application partition to be booted, and independently verifies the application partition to be booted. The invention guarantees the security of an embedded device by means of two steps of validity verification, and increases the efficiency of verification by independently verifying the application partition, and the partition table provides a more flexible mechanism for the upgrading of data.
