Design and evaluation of wireless home automation systems

Smart homes are in huge demand and have gained significant consumer awareness. Smart homes and home automation systems are generally used with reference to a wide range of solutions that includes controlling, monitoring and automating various functions inside a home. In this paper, design of home automation systems using various technologies is proposed and their performances are evaluated. The proposed work is an outcome of a funded project and the systems proposed, designed and reported in this paper can be easily adapted for various applications such as control of machines in machining industries, automotive industry, navigating mobile wireless nodes and automating offices.
