AIR POLLUTION AND HEALTH: AN OVERVIEW WITH SOME CASE STUDIES

There are several strategies used for reducing the levels of air pollution and therefore minimising its impact on health. Traditionally, these strategies have been based on setting limit values for each pollutant, which should not be exceeded. Today, a global approach to the problems posed by air pollution is defended, especially to those related with vehicle transport, the main source of air pollution in most European cities nowadays.
