Standoff concealed explosives detection using millimeter-wave radar to sense surface shape anomalies

In this paper present the new concept for body-worm explosive detection has been presented. It consists of an array of reflectors producing narrow steerable beams, which is able to detect abrupt changes in the surface shape of the person. 2D-FDFD modeling has been performed to compute the electromagnetic response of a human body with and without metal pipes. The results show it is possible to associate abrupt changes at the human-body shape with abrupt changes in phase of received signal.
