Stabilization of carbazole radical cation formed in poly(N-vinylcarbazole) by charge delocalization

The transient absorption spectra (charge resonance band) of poly (N-vinylcarbazole) (PVCz) and copolymers with methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate are measured by laser photolysis. The charge formed in PVCz is found to be delocalized among move than two chromophores and its stabilization energy is found to be higher than that of the carbazole dimer radical cation
