Tactical broadband/narrowband network architecture design

A broadband/narrowband switch network architecture is proposed, and network concepts and architecture alternatives for a tactical broadband network are developed. The ability of an existing military communications system, Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE), to provide the combination of services expected in the future, particularly video, is investigated. An addition that could be applied to MSE or TRI-TAC to add limited video teleconferencing capabilities to these systems is defined. This would require the development of a video packet assembler-disassembler and a video compressor.<<ETX>>
