Characterizing the Type of Transfer Center Using Intermodal Time and Entropy

This paper reviews the type of classification of domestic/foreign Transfer Center in other research, and classifies the Transfer Centers in Seoul based on “Transport system efficiency promotion act”. Evaluation and categorizing the process of Transfer Center adopted the concept of integral intermodal time and intermodal entropy. In this paper, three types of classifications are used. In addition, evaluation of each type of Transfer Center in Seoul is done by reviewing the system of traffic connectivity between modes and field survey. After the result of reviews on selected Transfer Center analysis, the last selected site for data analysis is totally 19 places: seven in a Public Transportation linked type, seven in a Parking lot type and five in a Terminal type Transfer Center. Through this analysis, the authors propose a way to improve the Transfer Centers in Seoul. However, nationwide research is needed, due to the other characteristic of Transfer Centers can be found.
