Flow-metering by time-correlation: Process models

Abstract The paper presents a model about tracer movement in a stationary, homogeneous flow. All results are derived from the Lagrangian movement of the tracer. A second order statistic, characterised by correlation coefficients ad their integral scales, is sufficient to signify experimental data. The cross-correlation coefficient and the sensor distance explain the type of diffusivity in the flow. A measure of quality is introduced, the influence of diffusivity and the profile of the velocity on time-correlation are discussed.
