DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS FOR A NEXT GENERATION SIDE COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM

This paper reviews the development and testing of performance specifications for next generation side collision warning systems. The project performed the following tasks: itemize available crash data; establish functional goals; assess existing systems; develop preliminary performance specifications; investigate state of the art of technology; select test systems; construct/acquire collision avoidance systems; conduct testing to validate performance specifications; and finalize performance specifications.
