The brain bench planner and trainer for minimal access surgery

We integrate an electronic atlas of brain structure with a virtual stereotactic frame in a system for intuitive, reach-in manipulation. Clinical study now under way will test our expectation that plans can be prepared faster, with better and more accurate choice of target points, improved avoidance of sensitive structures, fewer abortive frame attachments, and speedier, more effective training. All these factors, if validated, will increase medical efficacy and reduce costs. Mpeg http://ciemed.iss.nus.sg/research/3dinterfaces/mpg/brainBench.mpg
