The structure of the title compound has been investigated as part of a general study on the chelating properties of therapeutically active imidazole derivatives. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/n, with lattice parameters a = 14.614(5), b = 33.206(12), c = 8.062(3) A, β = 91.24(3)°, Z = 8 and Dm = 1.42, Dc = 1.44 Mg m−3. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined to a final R-value of 0.086. The asymmetric unit contains two miconazole molecules linked by the water molecule.
