Probably no drug has been tested as thoroughly in regard to the arterial irritation as propanidid. BEER et al. (1965)l, HOFFMEISTER et al. (1965)3 LIEBEGOTT (1965)4, WEIS and RUCKES (1965)6 tested it in rabbits, rats, dogs and cats. Intra-arterial injection of agents for intravenous anaesthesia may cause oedema, pain and, in larger amounts, muscle contractions, pareses and necroses. The degree of damage increases with the total amount and the concentration. For comparison I will quote the summarized results of HOFFMEISTER et al.
