STRESS ANALYSIS IN A HIGH FIELD DIPOLE MAGNET DESIGN

It is necessary to make a careful stress analysis to extend the magnet technology of 5 Tesla region to 10 Tesla region. The analysis method using the standard finite element code ISAS (NASTRAN) was developed. An analysis for a 10 Tesla dipole magnet which uses alloy conductors in the pressurized superfluid at 1.8 K was made to determine the optimum collar shape. The field calculation in this analysis was made by the program POISSON.
