Knowledge-Based 2½D Prismatic Component Inspection Planning

The knowledge-based approach is a useful tool for computer aided inspection planning. The knowledge base, the set-up decision, the optimum measuring sequence, and a method for contact point test on a complex profile plane face are discussed. A prototype inspection planning system has been developed called INSPEX(P) for 2½D prismatic components. NC program code for inspection and an inspection plan are produced automatically and the path of the probe is displayed.
