A method and control device for calculating a data-based functional model

The invention relates to a method for performing a calculation of a data-based functional model in a control unit (1) with a computing unit (4) and a separate model calculation unit (6) having a processor core (62), comprising the steps of: - loading (S2) containing a first portion of configuration data, the hyper parameters of the data-based function model and a first portion of data nodes with a plurality of supporting points, in the model calculation unit (6); - starting (S4) a calculation in the arithmetic core (62) of the model calculation unit (6), to obtain a model value at a given test point; and - transmitting (S6) a second portion of configuration data including a second portion of the support points data with a plurality of supporting points, in the model calculation unit (6) before the calculation in the arithmetic core (62) of the model calculation unit (6) is completed.
