A 3D ray tracing tool for indoor UWB signal propagation modelling

An UWB indoor propagation simulation tool is presented. The electromagnetic propagation is modelled using a three-dimensional ray-tracing code. Ray trace computations are carried out in the frequency domain with computed fields presented in both frequency and time domains. We compare the losses associated with the indoor channel to those of a free space channel along a chosen test line. Results show the effect of indoor propagation loss on the received signal energy and the effect of multi-path.
