Increasing the force per unit volume of tubular drives by raising the integration degree

This paper describes results elaborated by designing three different tubular linear drives for applications where hydraulic actuators are in common use. The superior force density of hydraulic actuators results in a challenging magnetic and mechanical design. However, electric-driven actuators offer advantages in dynamic behavior, controllability and efficiency.
