Summary Evidence is presented that incubation of monoolein with ATP, fatty acids, and other appropriate additions in the presence of subcellular fractions from intestinal mucosal cells results in the formation of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA). These results indicate that LPA is an intermediate in the formation of phosphoglycerides in the intestinal mucosa during fat absorption.
