From the editors

Suzanne M. (Hobson) Dugger, EdD, NCC, LPC, LLP, is an associate professor in the Department of Leadership and Counseling at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and serves as the coordinator of the university’s CACREPaccredited school counseling program. Outside the university, she serves as a member of the Michigan Board of Counseling (state licensure board) and as the chair of the Michigan Department of Education’s School Counselor Educators Committee. Prior to accepting the lead editor responsibilities for this book, Dr. Dugger served for 4 years as the editor of the journal Dimensions in Counseling: Research, Theory and Practice and has served on the editorial boards for the Professional School Counseling and Elementary School Guidance & Counseling journals. In addition, she has been a contributor to The School Counselor Handbook, to Critical Incidents in Group Counseling, and to Case Studies in Child and Adolescent Counseling and has published articles in The Journal of Humanistic Counseling, Education and Development, in the American Journal of Health Studies, in College Teaching, in Elementary School Guidance & Counseling, and in Professional School Counseling. In addition, Dr. Dugger is currently the chair of the American Counseling Association’s (ACA’s) Midwest Region and has served as the ACA Human Rights Committee Chair. She has also served as the president of the Michigan Counseling Association, as president of the Michigan Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and as a Governing Board Member of the Michigan School Counselor Association. Dr. Dugger is the founding member of the Association of Michigan School Counselors. Dr. Dugger received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard University, where she also earned a teaching certificate. She earned her master’s degree in counseling from Central Michigan University and her doctorate in counseling psychology from Western Michigan University. Before pursuing her doctoral studies, Dr. Dugger served as an elementary school counselor for 5 years.
