Interval-based aggregation of fuzzy-linguistic statements

Vast amounts of knowledge obtained everyday from distributed sources have to be automatically integrated into meaningful statements. The paper follows distance-based approaches to knowledge integration and presents a unified model for an integration of language statements representable with Zadehian fuzzy-linguistic variable. The paper discusses particular stages of the integration process. As such, it provides a transition from an external language of communication to an internal representation. Further, it describes an algorithm of integration of internally represented knowledge pieces. Finally, the paper discusses a reverse transition in order to provide a result of integration using an external language of communication.
