Comparison of Semi-Active Suspension Controllers

Two hybrid control algorithms, Sky Hook-Ground Hook and Mix-1-Sensor, were tested in an automotive semiactive suspension. A commercial Magneto-Rheological damper was implemented using an Artificial Neural Network in a Quarter of Vehicle model. The automotive semi-active suspension was implemented in a commercial Controller Area Network system; the control algorithms were implemented in an Arduino Due micro-controller system. Early results show better performance than automotive passive system and the feasibility of this application in a commercial vehicle.
