Predicting success in programmer training

The purpose of this study was to further explore the possibility of using cognitive tests for predicting success in programming training. While many studies have been reported indicating various correlations between cognitive tests and supervision ratings of actual job performance, little has been done in the area of predicting success in training. There also has been a lack of research in establishing a definite relationship between success in training and success on the job. Yet it was felt that a candidate for a programmer's position must at least be able to be trained before his work can be evaluated.
