Blast-Induced Response of Moment Connections

After the 1994 Northridge earthquake that highlighted serious design and construction deficiencies in steel connections, new design guidelines were developed to remedy their performance under seismic effects. Utilizing available steel connections, unreinforced and reinforced with respect to earthquake load, this numerical study was performed to develop a better understanding as to the behavior of moment resistant steel connections under blast loads, identify possible performance deficiencies, and provide recommendations for research that could help to remedy such difficulties. 1 line
