Investigation on backup path algorithm in Ad Hoc network

Dynamic topology is one important feature of Ad Hoc,and a key factor affecting communication performance as well. Dynamic source routing (DSR) is an on-demand routing protocol. When it is detected that the link is broken,the source will find a new route. During the route reconstruction,packets may be dropped,which will cause significant throughput degradation. We propose a link breakage prediction algorithm to DSR protocol. The source will maintain backup routes that can be utilized after the primary path breaks. The protocol can significantly reduce the total number of dropped data packets.
