Understanding Restorative Justice Through the Lens of Critical Criminology

This chapter explores the tensions between critical criminology and restorative justice. Of particular focus is the paradoxical nature of restorative justice, where on the one hand restorative justice is a story of optimism, reform and social change, yet its operationalization within traditional systems of criminal justice makes it inseparable from the processes of exclusion and criminalization.
