Twin-armature rotary-linear induction motor

The twin-armature, rotary-linear induction motor is one of several types of motors with two degrees of mechanical freedom. Its rotor can perform either separately or simultaneously linear and rotary motions. In the paper, the performance characteristics of the rotary-linear induction motor are presented. A theory is derived based on the Fourier-series method which takes into account the end effects of the twin motor's armatures. Results obtained from the calculations are compared with experimental measurements.
