The reduction of cerium(IV)(monomer, type B) by hydrogen peroxide has been studied in 1 M-HClO4 and found to be rapid. A slower reaction observed previously is now believed to be most probably due to traces of cerium(IV)(polymer, type A) which reacts only slowly with hydrogen peroxide.
