Single stage high power factor converter using coupled input boost inductor BCM without eletrolytic capacitor to drive power LED

This paper proposes a single-stage high power factor correction converter using a coupled input Boost inductor Boundary Conduction Mode (BCM) to drive Light Emitting Diode (LED), without electrolytic capacitors in the DC bus. The power factor correction is activated through direct connection between inverter stage and two input capacitor. To obtain DC current through the power LEDs a rectifier with output capacitor filter connected between the inverter stage and DC bus capacitors is used. The output rectifier frequency is reflected in the inductor current of the input filter favoring the reduction of its weight and volume. Experimental results are presented to validate the proposed methodology.
