The Development of High-content Screening Technique and Its Application in Pharmaceutical Research

Along with the evolution of microscopy imaging,data analysis software and staining techniques,high-content screening method has become a highly developed approach to obtain richly descriptive quantitative data of cells using automated microscopy.From early use in drug screening,the technique has been evolved to embrace a diverse range of cell biology,thus playing an important role in the drug research and development in the future.The development of three foundations of high-content screening has been introduced,its recent application in biomedical research and drug discovery has been summarized,and the prospects and problems of the technique have been discussed as well.
