A new transmitter identification system for ATSC DTV standard

A new transmitter identification system for ATSC is proposed in this paper. The TXID (Transmitter Identification) system uses only the reserved region of ATSC symbol header. It inserts specific code according to IR (Insertion Ratio) in the reserved area in the field sync for the identification of several transmitters. Therefore, it does not degrade general reception performance of receivers and TXID information can be calculated with less computing power compared to the existing TXID system in A/111 which buries codes on the VSB symbol data. These results can be used to design the whole SFN system. The performance variation according to different IR and comparison results with existing standard are presented.
