The surface core-level shift of the Rh (100) single-crystal surface

High-resolution photoemission spectroscopy has been used to determine the surface core-level shift of the Rh(100) single-crystal surface. From the Rh 3d core level spectra the surface atoms were found to have 0.62+or-0.01 eV lower binding energy than the bulk atoms. The observed shift is in excellent agreement with recent theoretical calculations.
