Direct carrier frequency compensation in burst mode satellite communication

An efficient high performance technique is presented for carrier frequency compensation in satellite burst mode communication. It is based on the principle of iterated correlations, which consists of computing the correlation function of a set of samples, viewing the result as a new set of samples and iterating the computation. The scheme is amenable to implementation with the FFT algorithm. Simulation results show a performance close to the theoretical bounds and independent of the frequency value to be estimated.
