Rare gas pressure broadening and shifting of HF vibration-rotation absorption lines—explanation of anomalous line shifts

We remove the discrepancy of a previous calculation between experimental and calculated rare gas pressure‐induced HF vibration–rotation line shifts by choosing new values for two intermolecular force constants and including anisotropic potential phase shifts to all orders. Two previously unexplained features of krypton and xenon line shifts are explained, and the agreement between previously calculated linewidths and experimental values is improved.
