Seismic Analysis of Nuclear Reactor Core

Nuclear reactor core is composed of a great number of tubular beams, which are immersed in a fluid with period structure. The fluid structure interaction is an important phenomenon influencing the dynamical response of bundle, and it's very complex. Much effort has been made upon the development of a mathematical model capable of predicting the global behavior of the beam bundle. Based on the 3-D homogenization model, fundamental equations and boundary conditions are presented for the analysis of the core's seismic response. Finite element method is employed for detailed analysis. Results of responses of the fluid pressure and the beam deflection under seismic excitation are presented.
