Novel method to improve radar transmit-receive isolation

A novel method which is fit for the CW radar to improve transmit-receiver isolation is presented. This method is using high-impedance electromagnetic surface.Utilizing the relation between the frequency band-gap and the dimension of the periodic structure, the high-impedance surface can easily be designed at radar frequency. The designed high-impedance surface is applied to a type of CW radar, and measurement results show that the high-impedance surface can remarkably decrease transmit-receiver mutual coupling up to 15 dB,which proves the validity of the method.
